Delhi, 28 January (H.S.): The budget session of Parliament will begin on January 31 with the address of President Draupadi Murmu in the joint session of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The next day, on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26.
The first phase of the budget session of Parliament will begin on January 31 and end on February 13. The second phase of the budget session will begin on March 10, which will run till April 4. President Draupadi Murmu will address both the Houses of Parliament in the Lok Sabha chamber in Parliament House at 11 am on January 31, the first day of the budget session.
After the President’s address in the joint session of Parliament, there will be a brief meeting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Friday. After this, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey in both the Houses.
According to the parliamentary notification, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2025-26 in the Lok Sabha on February 1. The motion of thanks on the President’s address will be discussed on February 3-4, while the Rajya Sabha has set aside three days for the debate. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the government has called an all-party meeting on January 30. He has appealed to the opposition leaders for cooperation to conduct smooth discussion in the House during the upcoming session. He has expressed hope that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present a good and balanced budget.
