Bhopal, January 29 (HS): Today, Wednesday is Magh Amavasya i.e. Mauni Amavasya. Mauni Amavasya is an important date in Hinduism. The word Mauni means silence, that is, it is related to keeping quiet. It is considered a special day for staying silent and introspection. There are beliefs that on the day of Mauni Amavasya, sins are atoned for by bathing in rivers and doing charity etc. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has given best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya festival.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav posted on social media and wrote, “Ganga cha Yamune chaiva Godavari Saraswati. Narmade Sindhu Kaveri Jalesmin Sannidhim Kuru. Hearty congratulations and best wishes on the fasting festival Mauni Amavasya. This festival is an auspicious occasion to express gratitude towards the life-giving holy rivers. Prayers to the holy Triveni Sangam and Mother Narmada ji to bless everyone with happiness and prosperity.”
