On February 6, 1948, Naik Jadunath Singh, the second recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, made the ultimate sacrifice for the country while facing the enemy. During the Pakistan attack on the Taindhar post north of Nowshera in Jammu and Kashmir, Jadunath Singh, along with his fellow soldiers, repelled the assaults on three occasions. Although injured in the second attack, Jadunath Singh displayed unwavering courage. Every bullet fired from Jadunath Singh’s machine gun inflicted heavy casualties on the Pakistanis. Despite successfully pushing the enemy back, he succumbed to wounds from bullets in the chest and head. Posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra in 1950, the INAN-198 island in Andaman-Nicobar was renamed Naik Jadunath Singh on Parakram Diwas in 2023.
