Delhi, 6 February (H.S.): The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) hosted the North East Trade and Investment Roadshow in Chennai, attracting potential investors eager to explore opportunities in the region. The event was attended by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Hon’ble Minister of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region & Ministry of Communications, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Hon’ble Minister of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Mizoram, senior officials from MDoNER, North Eastern Council, and North Eastern State.
The North Eastern Region holds immense potential for rapid industrialization due to its rich cultural diversity, natural beauty, and strategic location. Its proximity to Southeast Asia aligns with India’s Act East Policy and offers opportunities in various sectors such as tourism, hospitality, agri-allied industries, healthcare, entertainment, sports, infrastructure & logistics, IT & ITeS, textiles, handloom & handicrafts, and energy.
Mizoram’s Minister of Sports & Youth Services highlighted the region’s immense investment opportunities, including 55% of its land under horticulture, GI-tagged ginger and chillies, mandarin oranges, papaya, and dragon fruit, and bamboo cultivation. The state is also positioning itself as a sports powerhouse and aligns with India’s 2036 Olympic vision.
Shri Chanchal Kumar, Secretary of MDoNER, highlighted the region’s investment potential, highlighting the region’s transformation in connectivity over the last decade and its potential for growth in sectors like IT & ITES, healthcare, agri-allied, education & skill development, sports & entertainment, tourism & hospitality, infrastructure and logistics, textiles, handlooms and handicrafts, and energy.
