BJP ’s Ravinder Singh Negi clinched a victory in the Patparganj constituency, defeating AAP’s Avadh Ojha by over 25,000 votes. Negi secured 58,821 votes, while Ojha managed 43,423. Ojha, who was fielded after former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia shifted to Jangpura, admitted that he failed to connect with the voters. Calling it a personal setback, he vowed to engage more with the people and contest again in future elections.
Once a Congress stronghold, Patparganj became an AAP bastion in recent years. The 2025 Delhi Assembly elections saw a tough contest, with a voter turnout of 57.74%, as per the Election Commission’s data. Voting across all 70 assembly seats was conducted in a single phase on Feb 5th.
In the 2020 elections, Sisodia had comfortably defeated BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi. This year, with Sisodia contesting from Jangpura, AAP fielded Avadh Ojha, a teacher-turned-politician, against BJP’s Negi and Congress’ Anil Chaudhary. However, the saffron party managed to flip the seat, securing a crucial win in East Delhi.
