Dehradun, February 10 (HS): Under the Devbhoomi Entrepreneurship Scheme operated under the Higher Education Department, a two-day Mega Startup Summit will be organized at Doon University on February 11 (Tuesday). This summit will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Dr. Deepak Pandey, Nodal Officer / Assistant Director of Entrepreneurship Development in the Higher Education Department, gave this information during a press conference at the Media Center located in the Secretariat on Monday. He informed that the Devbhoomi Entrepreneurship Scheme was launched to promote startup culture and entrepreneurship ecosystem in the universities, campuses and affiliated institutions of the state in accordance with the National Education Policy-2020.
In the same sequence, under the MoU with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Development, Ahmedabad, in the last one year, 21,266 students from various educational institutions of the state have registered on its official portal. Now, in the Mega Startup Summit being organized on completion of one year of the scheme, more than 60 products of the students registered under the scheme will be displayed. Under the scheme, patent applications of seven students have been done in the last one year, out of which one has also been registered.
Under the scheme, the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Development has so far developed 185 faculty members of higher educational institutions as mentors. Also, to promote entrepreneurship awareness and skills, 75 two-day startup boot camps have been successfully organized in various higher educational institutions so far, in which 12,300 participants participated.
Establishment of Devbhoomi Entrepreneurship Centers: To provide assistance to students and local youth for entrepreneurship and self-employment, 124 Devbhoomi Entrepreneurship Centers have been established across the state. Similarly, to provide guidance and assistance to new entrepreneurs in their specific areas, 10 higher educational institutions have been given the status of Center of Excellence last year. A total of 30 Centers of Excellence are to be established under the scheme.
On this occasion, Deputy Secretary Higher Education Byomkesh Dubey, Director General of Indian Entrepreneurship Development Institute Sunil Shukla were also present.
