Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to the United States began with a series of high-profile meetings, reinforcing India’s growing global influence. His visit, the first since Donald Trump returned to the White House, underlined India’s commitment to fostering diplomatic, economic, and technological partnerships.
One of the key highlights was his interaction with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, followed by strategic discussions with US officials and Indian-origin entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
PM Modi Meets Elon Musk: Focus on Governance and Innovation
On Thursday, PM Modi met Tesla CEO Elon Musk at the Blair House in Washington, where he is staying during his visit. Shortly after their discussion, PM Modi took to X and shared insights into the meeting, emphasizing India’s governance reforms.
“Had a very good meeting with @elonmusk in Washington DC. We discussed various issues, including those he is passionate about such as space, mobility, technology, and innovation. I talked about India’s efforts towards reform and furthering ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance,’” PM Modi wrote.
Musk, who has been appointed as a special US government employee, currently heads the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). His discussions with PM Modi highlighted the growing collaboration between India and the US in technological advancements, innovation, and governance models.

Engagements with US Officials and Indian-American Leaders
Apart from his meeting with Musk, PM Modi also engaged with key US officials, including National Security Advisor Michael Waltz. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and NSA Ajit Doval were also present in this strategic discussion, further strengthening India-US diplomatic ties.
PM Modi also met Indian-origin entrepreneur and Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy at Blair House. After their meeting, Ramaswamy expressed his admiration for PM Modi’s leadership, stating, “It was a pleasure and honour to welcome Prime Minister Modi here. Hope he has a wonderful visit and it was a great meeting.”
Their discussions covered various aspects of India-US relations, including innovation, biotechnology, and the role of entrepreneurship in shaping the future. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed this on X, “PM @narendramodi met with @VivekGRamaswamy at Blaire House today. Ramaswamy, who previously ran for the US presidency but later backed Donald Trump, had also been appointed to co-head the Department of Government Efficiency alongside Elon Musk. However, he stepped down from the role and instead decided to run for Ohio governorship. PM Modi’s imminent visit to the US is expected to further cement bilateral ties, focusing on trade, defense, and global strategic cooperation. The visit reaffirms India’s growing stature on the world stage, strengthening partnerships that will shape the future of global governance, innovation, and diplomacy.
