Chandigarh, 17 February (HS): BSF has conducted three separate operations against drone smuggling in Indo-Pak border areas and arrested two drug smugglers and recovered huge quantity of heroin.
BSF spokesperson said in the information released late Sunday night that this heroin was dropped in the Indian border from Pakistan. According to the BSF spokesperson, in the first operation, a joint raid was conducted by BSF and ANTF Punjab Police at the house of a suspect in Chakbal village of Ajnala police station in Amritsar. During the search, the suspect was caught with 1.560 kg of heroin, which was packed in a white polythene bag wrapped in cloth.
In the second operation, based on intelligence input, BSF laid an ambush to stop a Pakistani drone carrying drugs across the border. As the drone attempted to drop its consignment in India, BSF jawans successfully intercepted it and apprehended a smuggler who had come to receive the package. The BSF recovered 1.095 kg heroin and a mobile phone from the suspect, a resident of Dal village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district.
In the third operation, BSF jawans recovered one kg heroin in two separate packets from Dona Rehmat Wala village in Ferozepur district. The drugs were dropped by a Pakistani drone and were packed in yellow packets with hooks.
