Bhopal, February 18 (HS): The Land Resources Department of the Rural Development Ministry of the Central Government is starting a pilot program called National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey (NAKSHA) of Urban Settlements in 152 urban local bodies of 26 states and three union territories. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will launch the program in Raisen, MP today (on Tuesday).
Public Relations Officer Mahesh Dubey said that Revenue Minister Karan Singh Verma, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communication Dr. Chandrashekhar Pemmasani, State Minister of Fishermen Welfare and Fisheries Development (Independent Charge) Narayan Singh Pawar, MLA Dr. Prabhuram Choudhary, Union Secretary Land Resources Manoj Joshi, Joint Secretary Kunal Satyarthi will be present in the program.
He informed that the objective of the Map program is to create and update land records in urban areas, to ensure accurate and reliable documentation of land ownership. This initiative will empower citizens, make life easier, enhance urban planning and reduce land-related disputes. The IT-based system for property record administration will promote transparency, efficiency and support sustainable development. Drones will be flown in the Map launch program. Standard Operating Procedure booklet will be released. Videos and flyers will be released on the Map program. Watershed Yatra will be flagged off. Watershed videos will be screened and watershed anthem will be played.
He informed that Survey of India is the technical partner for the Map program, which is responsible for conducting aerial surveys and providing orthorectified imagery to the state and union territory governments through third party vendors. The end-to-end web-GIS platform will be developed by Madhya Pradesh State Electronic Development Corporation (MPSEDC) and storage facilities will be provided by National Informatics Center Services Inc. (NICSI).
