Dehradun, February 18 (HS): The first assembly session of the fifth assembly of the state started on Tuesday with the address of Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (retd). The state government will present the budget for the financial year 2025-26 on February 20.
The budget session began with the national anthem at 11 am on Tuesday. As soon as the Governor’s address started, the opposition members created a ruckus demanding extension of the session period. During this, the Governor continued to read the address. Congress MLAs including Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya came to the bell and raised slogans.
Earlier, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan launched the e-Vidhan Sabha Application (NEVA). For the first time, the session of e-Vidhan Sabha is being held under the paperless session. For this, tablets were installed at the place of sitting of all the members in the House. Through this only, the MLAs will get information about the agenda, questions.
Earlier, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy visit to Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan in the Assembly on Tuesday. Cabinet Minister Premchand Aggarwal, MLA Khajan Das and Sh Parvati Das were also present on the occasion.
