New Delhi, February 18 (HS): Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) signed a letter of intent (LOI) at Biofach 2025 held from 11 to 14 February 2025 at Messzentrum in Nuremberg, Germany. Its objective is to make India the partner country of the year at BIOFACH2026.

A spokesperson of the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry said on Tuesday that to celebrate India’s rich agricultural heritage and growing demand for sustainable farming, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) organized the participation of Indian exporters under the India Pavilion at Biofach 2025 held from February 11 to 14, 2025 at the Messezentrum in Nuremberg, Germany. The APEDA India Pavilion at BIOFACH 2025 was inaugurated by Shatrughan Sinha, Consul General of India in Munich and Abhishek Dev, Chairman, APEDA.

A spokesperson of the ministry said that a Letter of Intent (LOI) was also signed between APEDA and Nuremberg Messe on February 11, 2025 at the event to make India the Partner Country of the Year at BIOFACH 2026. The MoU was signed by Victoria Vehse, Vice President and Member, Management Board, Nuremberg Messe, and Abhishek Deo, President, APEDA, in the presence of Shatrughan Sinha, Consul General of the Indian Consulate General in Munich. The signing was a landmark in the long-standing partnership between India and Biofach, with India having previously bagged the prestigious Partner Country title in 2012. It also sets the stage for India to hog the limelight at this global event next year and showcase India’s strengths as an organic food basket to the world at BIOFACH 2026.

He informed that to showcase the diversity of India’s organic food products and offerings, APEDA facilitated the participation of over 20 co-exhibitors, including exporters, FPOs and state government organisations, who showcased products such as rice, oilseeds, herbs, spices, pulses, cashew nuts, ginger, turmeric, large cardamom, cinnamon, mango puree, essential oils, among others. The exhibition not only showcased India’s agricultural potential.

Apart from showcasing a wide range of organic products, the India Pavilion invited attendees to travel through the vibrant flavours and aromas of India with curated food tastings designed to evoke the essence of India’s organic richness. From the aromatic, flavourful biryani made with premium organic basmati rice and exotic spices to the calming and immunity-boosting properties of the Golden Turmeric Latte, every dish celebrated India’s organic offerings. The pavilion also featured live cooking demos where visitors savoured authentic Indian delicacies such as the Millet Dosa.

Furthermore, the cultural experience at the India Pavilion extended beyond culinary delights where visitors got to see Henna Art, a symbol of India’s rich cultural diversity and artistic expression. This cultural element provided a tangible connection to India’s age-old traditions, bridging the gap between sustainable farming and the extensive cultural heritage that defines the nation.

APEDA’s pavilion at BIOFACH 2025 showcased the best of India’s organic excellence, found in the products on display, the stories of exporters from across the country, and their shared commitment to a healthier and more sustainable future. With its deep history and emerging future, India’s organic agriculture sector is set to take center stage once again at Biofach 2026. As global attention turns to India’s agricultural innovations, APEDA aims to build collaborations and partnerships that will pave the way for India to become the world’s most trusted and sought-after source of organic food products.
