Kathmandu, February 25 (HS): India’s neighboring countries Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan have also voted in favor of Ukraine in the United Nations General Assembly. India and China were absent during this voting. A total of 93 countries voted in favor of Ukraine during the voting in the United Nations. By voting against Ukraine for the first time, the US has indicated to take the ongoing talks with Russia further.
In the third year of the Russian attack on Ukraine, a resolution was brought in favor of Ukraine in the United Nations. During the voting on Tuesday, the US has given a clear message of change in its old policy regarding Russia and Ukraine by voting against Ukraine. Earlier, the US has voted in favor of Ukraine in the United Nations. It is believed that this initiative of America will increase the pressure on Ukrainian President Zelensky to step down.
During the voting in the United Nations, a total of 93 countries voted in favor of Ukraine. This includes almost all European countries including Australia, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, England, Singapore. India’s neighboring countries Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan have also voted in favor of Ukraine.
65 countries including India and China were absent during this voting. These include Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, Oman, and many Gulf countries and Islamic countries. After America’s change of side, some countries have considered it better to remain absent from the voting instead of opposing it. The number of countries that voted against Ukraine is only 18. Apart from America, these include countries like Russia, Israel, Hungary, North Korea, Belarus.
