A violent clash broke out in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district on Wednesday, February 26, after Muslims objected to the installation of Mahashivratri flags and loudspeakers.
The situation escalated when stones were thrown from a nearby madrasa, prompting Hindus to retaliate. What started as a dispute quickly turned into violent unrest.
Vehicles Set Ablaze, Several Injured
During the violence, multiple vehicles, including a car, two bikes, a tempo, and a shop, were set on fire. The incident occurred at Hindustan Chowk in Dumraon village under the Ichak block. Several individuals sustained injuries and were rushed to Hazaribagh Sadar Hospital for treatment. In response to the unrest, police from three different stations have been deployed to maintain order. Trainee IPS officer Shruti Agarwal, BDO Santosh Kumar, and CO Ramji Prasad Gupta are stationed at the scene to monitor the situation.
Authorities have confirmed that the situation is now under control. So far, two individuals have been arrested, and raids are being conducted to apprehend other suspects. IPS Stuti Agarwal has urged local residents to remain calm and maintain peace.
