Prayagraj witnessed an extraordinary surge in air traffic as lakhs of devotees flocked to the city for the Maha Kumbh Mela, which concluded on February 26. The airport, which usually sees 20 scheduled flights daily, recorded a staggering 236 flights and 24,512 passengers on February 21. According to a senior Airports Authority of India official, daily flights have nearly doubled to 70, including private jets and charters. With passenger footfall at public transport hubs rising, the Prayagraj airport continues to set new records, reflecting the massive scale of the world’s largest religious gathering.
