British Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited the United States to hold talks with US President Donald Trump following US policy on the Ukraine war was upended by the newly-formed government, the debate around weakening of freedom of speech in the United Kingdom gained ground. In a meeting at the Oval Office, the discussion between the longtime allies got uncomfortable when US Vice President JD Vance confronted Starmer over ‘infringements on free speech’ in the UK. Vance stood by his month-old remark at the Munich Security Conference where he had pointed out how Europe’s greatest threat is the deterioration of its core values.
