On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Mukhimath Temple in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district.
The temple serves as the temporary home for the idol of Goddess Ganga when the Gangotri Temple shuts during the winter months due to heavy snowfall. PM Modi performed rituals and sought blessings from Goddess Ganga, with a large gathering to welcome him.
PM Modi was received at Dehradun’s Jolly Airport by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh. Sharing his excitement on X, CM Dhami wrote, “Warmly welcomed and greeted the Hon’ble Prime Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The arrival of the Hon’ble Prime Minister on the holy land of Harshil-Mukhwa is a historic moment”.
He added, “This visit of the Honorable Prime Minister is very important in the direction of establishing Mukhimnath (Mukhwa) on the global tourism map and strengthening the cultural and religious heritage of the state”. PM Modi is set to flag off a trek and bike rally and address a gathering at Harsil Valley.
