Further diminishing Ukraine’s hope of US support US President Donald Trump on Thursday paused intelligence sharing with the war torn nation, after it already halted military aid to its once key ally vulnerable to Russian missile attacks.
According to sources, the U.S. has halted all intelligence-sharing, including crucial targeting data used by Ukraine to strike Russian positions. While a second source suggested the cut was only “partial,” specific details remain unclear.
The move comes after a tense Oval Office meeting last Friday, where Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reportedly engaged in a heated exchange before the media. The suspension of intelligence-sharing is expected to severely impact Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe told Fox Business Network that the White House could reconsider both the military aid and intelligence-sharing bans if peace negotiations with Russia show progress. However, with Ukraine already struggling against relentless Russian offensives, the latest U.S. action raises fears of a further weakened resistance.
This development underscores the growing uncertainty surrounding Washington’s commitment to Ukraine, as the war-torn nation faces escalating threats with dwindling Western support.
