Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Gujarat on March 7 and 8. During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Navsari district on March 8 on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Lakhpati Didi Conference is being organized in Vansi Borsi, Navsari under his chairmanship. During this program, more than Rs 450 crore will be given assistance to women of more than 25 thousand self-help groups from the hands of the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Modi launched the Lakhpati Didi Yojana on August 15, 2023 with the aim of making the women of the country economically self-reliant and empowering them by encouraging them for entrepreneurship.
Lakhpati Didis are members of self-help groups who earn monthly income of Rs 10,000 or more and annual income of Rs 1 lakh or more from various income sources like agriculture, animal husbandry, small scale industries etc. through women self-reliance. Due to extensive efforts led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gujarat, today the annual income of about one lakh 50 thousand women has reached one lakh or more and they have become Lakhpati Didis.
One lakh women from Navsari, Valsad and Dang districts will participate in the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan to be held at Vansi Borsi in Navsari. These women will include those members of self-help groups who have become Lakhpati Didis or wish to become Lakhpati Didis.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the 10 selected Lakhpati Didis and will felicitate 5 Lakhpati Didis by giving them certificates. Apart from this; A film showing the progress made under the Lakhpati Didi scheme in Gujarat will also be shown during this program. Along with this; Two important ‘state specific schemes’ will also be launched during the program.
G-Safal Yojana will be launched on 8 March with the aim of increasing the livelihood of the sisters of Antyodaya families and making them economically capable and women empowerment. Through this scheme, 50 thousand Antyodaya Anna Yojana card holder families of two aspirational districts and 13 aspirational tehsils of the state will be benefited in the next five years. This scheme is to provide financial assistance and entrepreneurship training to the women of self-help groups (SHGs) of Antyodaya families. Each SHG woman will be given assistance of Rs 1 lakh and vocational training. Assistance of Rs 500 crore for 50,000 women in five years. One field coach, one weekly coaching and capacity building for every 50 to 60 women.
With the objective of promoting rural startups and encouraging social entrepreneurship for effective solutions in rural areas, G-Maitri Yojana (Gujarat Mentorship and Acceleration of Individuals for Transforming Rural Income) will be launched. Gujarat Social Enterprise Fund (G-SEF) has allocated Rs 50 crore to support rural livelihood-focused startups in the next five years. This scheme will enable 10 lakh rural women and youth in Gujarat for livelihood-oriented activities.
Under this scheme, social enterprises will be given incentive assistance in new startup and growing startup categories. Under G-Maitri, profitable and non-profit social enterprises providing livelihood to rural women and youth in Gujarat can participate. More than 150 startups will be supported in five years through seed and scale startup programs. A grant of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh will be given for the development of the enterprise. Assistance of up to Rs 20 lakh for seed startup and Rs 30 lakh for scale startup. Rural development will be encouraged through entrepreneurship and self-reliance. The capabilities of the wider eco-system will be developed through work camps and training.
A Gujarat government spokesperson said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel are to give financial incentives to Lakhpati Didis and make women economically capable on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The government will realize the spirit of ‘Women Led Development’ by launching two important schemes.
