Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday emphasized the need to make Uttarakhand a year-round tourist destination, stating that there should be no “off-season” for visitors.
Participating in a programme aimed at boosting winter tourism, PM Modi flagged off a trek and bike rally at Harsil in Uttarkashi district. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted Uttarakhand’s potential for tourism beyond traditional seasons, citing opportunities for rejuvenation through yoga and Ayurveda.
During his visit, the Prime Minister also paid tribute to the eight workers who lost their lives in the February 28 avalanche in Chamoli district’s Mana village.
Modi visited the winter seat of Gangotri Dham in Mukhwa and urged universities, private schools, and colleges to consider Uttarakhand for student trips during winter. Additionally, he encouraged people to explore the state as a destination for winter weddings, further promoting tourism throughout the year.
