Following the Karnataka government’s 2025 budget, which has sparked a political row, the Bharatiya Janata Party strongly criticised the allocations made for minority welfare. As per the budget, CM Siddaramaiah allocated Rs 1,000 crore for minority development, Rs 150 crore for Waqf property protection, Rs 100 crore for Urdu schools, and a Rs 6,000 monthly honorarium for Imams. Along with this, 4 percent of public works contracts have been reserved for Muslims under Category-II B.
Following this, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya, in a post on X, slammed the Congress for the biased resource allocation to Muslims.
He highlighted the pattern of Congress’ historical Muslim appeasement policy, comparing the latest budget allocation to former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, who once quoted that minorities, particularly Muslims, must have the “first claim on resources.”
Accusing the Congress of undermining the rights of Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Malviya called the budgetary provisions unconstitutional. “No reservation can be provided on the basis of religion. India will not let the Congress succeed with their sinister plans,” he wrote.
