In one more controversial remark, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused several leaders of his own party of being ‘sleeper cells’ for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Some leaders have remained within Congress while working secretly to further the interests of the ruling party, according to Gandhi.
His latest statements suggest a removal within the party, targeting those he believes are disloyal. He said, “There is a sleeper cell in Congress. Some leaders have been in Congress but working for the BJP. We need to throw them out who works for the BJP despite holding posts in Congress”.
Gandhi further stressed the need for immediate action, saying, “First of all, if we have to carry out strict action, we have to remove 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 people. If you are working from inside for the BJP, let’s go and see, work from outside. If you don’t have a place there, they will throw you out. So, the first thing to do is to remove 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 people.”
A Deep Mistrust Within Congress
Rahul Gandhi’s statements shows a growing internal conflict within the Congress party. He appears to be resorting to blaming his own colleagues rather than addressing the party’s structural weaknesses, leadership failures and electoral setbacks. The sleeper cell accusation is not just an attack on certain individuals but a reflection of the deep mistrust within Congress.
