Amid growing religious tensions worldwide, on Sunday, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandhir, one of the largest Hindu temples in Southern California, was vandalised with anti-Indian messages on Sunday, marking another disturbing instance in the rising hate crimes against the Hindu community in the United States.
While condemning the vandalism, Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Public Affairs confirmed the desecration of their temple in Chino Hills, California, was to sow division and hate. Later, the organisation stressed that the Hindu community remains resilient in the face of such hateful incidents.
Notably, the act of vandalism comes just days before a scheduled Sikh separatist referendum event in Los Angeles, further raising serious concerns about rising religious tensions in the state. The desecration has sparked widespread criticism among the Hindu community around the world, with many demanding immediate action from the authorities on the incident.
