US and Ukraine to Hold Key Ceasefire Talks in Saudi Arabia Amid War Tensions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a team of Ukrainian diplomats will stay in Saudi Arabia after his meeting with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman on Monday. The team will meet US officials for talks on the war with Russia.

The meeting will take place in Jeddah on Tuesday, where senior US and Ukrainian officials will discuss a possible ceasefire. US envoy Steve Witkoff said they will talk about an “initial ceasefire” and a “framework” for a long-term agreement.

The war is at a critical stage, and Ukraine is worried about being forced into territorial concessions. US President Donald Trump has changed Washington’s stance, engaging with Russian President Vladimir Putin and cutting key military aid to Ukraine.

Ukraine’s troops are struggling in the east, but reports suggest Russia’s advance has slowed.
