Mhow, Madhya Pradesh – A victory rally celebrating India’s win in the ICC Champions Trophy turned violent near Jama Masjid in Mhow. Clashes broke out after some individuals from the area allegedly started throwing stones at the rally.
The situation quickly escalated, leading to vandalism. Two vehicles and two shops were set on fire. Several motorcycles were abandoned as people fled for safety.
A heavy police force from Indore rural and city was deployed to control the situation. Officials confirmed that army personnel were present, but no separate army deployment was required.
Indore Rural SP Hitika Vasal stated that the violence started over firecrackers and that three people were injured. She assured that the situation was under control and those responsible would be punished.
Indore Collector Ashish Singh also confirmed that forces were in place and an investigation was underway.
