On Monday, the second part of the Parliament Budget Session started but the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 pm.

Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned on February 13, marking the end of the first part of the session. The second part of the session will take place from March 10 to April 4. Lok Sabha Speaker and DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran had a heated exchange in the House.

The speaker said, “I gave you a chance. I gave a chance to the Minister. Now, this is not a good way. I did what I said; now please take your seat.”

“Keep in mind what you are saying is not on record. Had it been on record, I would have acted against you and sent you out of the House. Listen to me carefully, and I will do this only. Go to your seat and say it on record, and I will act against you now,” he added.

The BJP MPs alleged that the DMK MP was “threatening” the Speaker. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi sought a discussion in the House over alleged discrepancies in the voter list. “Questions are being raised on the voter list across the country. We seek a discussion on the matter in the House,” he said.

The DMK MP further raised objection to the NEP and said that Tamil Nadu will not depart from its two-language policy and will not accept the three-language policy as mandated in the National Education Policy.

The Question Hour started in Lok Sabha as the proceedings got underway at 11 am. Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh congratulated team India on the victory in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand.

MoS Home Nityanand Rai moved the resolution on the President’s rule approval for Manipur in Rajya Sabha. The DMK attacked the government over NEP implementation in Tamil Nadu. The MPs walked into the well of the House and protested as Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan responded to the attack.

Pradhan said, “They are not committed to the Tamil Nadu students. They are ruining their future. They are dishonest to the people of Tamil Nadu”. The Opposition MPs raised slogans during the Question Hour in Lok Sabha.

“We want justice,” they shouted. Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon today. The Rajya Sabha proceedings are underway smoothly. Lok Sabha resumed at 12 noon following brief adjournment. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday congratulated team India on the victory in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand.
