Union Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the Rs 316.82 crore Para High-Performance Centre in Gandhinagar through a virtual event on Sunday.
He announced that India is determined to host the 2036 Olympic Games, and Gujarat has already started preparations. He revealed that 10 large stadiums will be built at the Sardar Patel Sports Complex, near the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.
The Para High Performance Centre will provide world-class training to para-athletes, helping them compete at national and international levels. Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving respect to differently-abled individuals by calling them “divyang”.
Gujarat’s sports budget has grown from Rs 2 crore in 2002 to Rs 352 crore today, showing the government’s commitment.
An MoU was signed between Gujarat’s Department of Science and Technology and the Common Service Centre (CSC) to improve digital services in Gandhinagar.
