In a major development, US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that America has “just about” ended its suspension of intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
The suspension had been imposed earlier, putting pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to engage in peace talks with Russia. CIA Director John Ratcliffe had confirmed last week that intelligence inputs to Ukraine had been halted.
Trump’s announcement comes ahead of a crucial meeting between US and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday. The talks will focus on Ukraine’s willingness to make concessions to Russia and a minerals deal between the two nations.
Trump expressed confidence in progress, stating, “We’re going to make a lot of progress, I believe, this week.”
He also mentioned that his administration was monitoring Russia, China, and Iran’s military exercises and evaluating potential tariffs on Russia.
