On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Mauritius’ highest civilian honour, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean, making him the first Indian recipient of the prestigious award.
Additionally, the announcement was made by Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, praising Modi’s contributions to strengthening India-Mauritius relations.
The award, considered as Mauritius’ most prestigious recognition, is a testament to the country’s deep-rooted historical and strategic ties with India. PM Modi joins an exclusive list of global leaders who have received the honor.
PM Modi was last awarded during his visit to Kuwait, where he was conferred with the Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer, the country’s highest knighthood reserved for heads of state and foreign dignitaries.
