On Wednesday, Jio Platforms Ltd announced that it has signed a pact to partner with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to introduce Starlink’s internet services to India.
On Tuesday, Airtel in an agreement with SpaceX announced to bring Starlink’s high-speed internet services to its customers in India. According to a stock exchange filing, this is the first agreement to be signed in India, which is subject to SpaceX receiving its own authorizations to sell Starlink in India.
So far, Jio and Space X have been on the opposite side of the debate on how spectrum for satellite communication should be assigned to companies with Jio calling for an auction, but Space X insisting on the administrative route.
