On Friday, violent clashes occurred between the two communities during Holi celebrations in Jharkhand’s Giridih on Friday. Local officials said vehicles were set on fire and a disruption of peace in the district.
The unrest happened near Ghodthambha Chowk in Giridih when a Holi procession passed through a street. A disagreement broke out between the members of two different communities.
The officials said the disturbance lasted for about an hour before local authorities intervened to disperse the crowd, the officials said.
Authorities gave the assurance that the situation had been brought under control, and no major injuries were reported.
Bimal Kumar, the Superintendent of police for Giridih, told ANI, “We have identified some of the miscreants involved, and strict action will be taken against them,” Bimal Kumar, the Superintendent of police for Giridih”.
“Security forces have been deployed to ensure that the situation remains under control. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries.”
Kumar emphasized that the probe was ongoing, and efforts were being made to trace more individuals involved in the violence. In their immediate reply, district officials, including members of the police force, arrived at the scene, helping to restore calm in the area.
