On Friday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has appointed former Delhi minister and MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj as the new chief of its Delhi unit, replacing Gopal Rai.
The leadership reshuffle comes following AAP’s defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, where the BJP secured a historic win, ending AAP’s decade-long dominance in the national capital.
Bhardwaj will be accountable for making political strategies to counter the BJP-led Delhi government. Speaking after his appointment, he said, “Our first priority will be to expand the party organisation. Elections will come and go”
Delhi’s Leader of Opposition Atishi congratulated him, posting on social media, she wrote, “Many congratulations to @Saurabh_MLAgk ji on becoming the state president of Delhi.”
