In West Bengal, a new controversy has occurred as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claims that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is systematically removing the names of Hindu and Hindi-speaking voters from the state’s electoral rolls.
Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has accused the TMC of orchestrating a voter verification campaign under the pretext of eliminating fake voters. The BJP has also raised concerns over what they term as Mamata Banerjee’s Muslim appeasement politics, alleging that it’s a part of a broader strategy to disenfranchise Bengali Hindus.
On Monday, Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, presented claims and evidence at a press conference, alleging that since February 27, 2025, Hindu and Hindi-speaking voters in Benga have been struck off the voter list.
