The United States has launched a latest bombing campaign targeting 80 Houthi military infrastructure sites in Yemen on Friday. The strikes reportedly hit residential areas including Sanaa, Hodeida, Saada, Amran, Marib, and al-Jawf. According to locals, the explosions were loud, and later smoke filled the sky.
For now, the scale of destruction and casualties remains unclear, though the intensity of the strikes is probably much bigger than previous strikes since the US campaign on eradicating Houthi terrorists began on March 15.
The US has reportedly increased the intensity of its campaign by launching airstrikes on high-ranking personnel and urban areas.
According to a Houthi-controlled news agency named SABA, only one injury was reported in Sanaa, where the terrorists have maintained control since 2014. The airstrikes also hit mountainous regions north of Sanaa, where military bases and intelligence sites are suspected to be located. As per Houthi-run al-Masirah satellite news network, communication networks were disrupted in the region following the attacks.
At present, the US Central Command, which has granted authority to carry out offensive operations in Yemen without any approval from the White House, has not officially taken responsibility for conducting the latest strikes.
The air campaign, which has killed around 57 people since March 15, was launched after the Houthis resumed attacks on Israeli ships in response to Israel blocking aid to Gaza.
