Videos showing alleged communal violence in Malda district, West Bengal, are spreading quickly on social media. The videos show a group of people marching and damaging public property. It is claimed that a Muslim group is specifically targeting businesses owned by Hindus in the Mothabari area.
Politicians, including BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari and BJP MP Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, have shared these videos. Adhikari claimed that certain people are attacking Hindu-owned shops in Mothabari. He called on the police to take strong action to stop the violence.
Adhikari also mentioned that the attacks on Hindu properties and shops started around 1 pm on March 27th.
Dr. Sukanta Majumdar also shared the videos and criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for not acting. He wrote that Hindu homes and shops were being destroyed by a violent mob, and the police and Mamata Banerjee were silent. He blamed her for encouraging lawlessness and fear among Hindus.
One of the videos shows a mob attacking shops while carrying Islamic flags. Another video shows the damaged shops and homes.
Amit Malviya, head of the BJP IT Cell, also shared a video claiming it shows the violence in Mothabari. He said the mob attacked Hindu homes, shops, and cars without any reason. He also criticized Mamata Banerjee for being in London while the situation in Malda was worsening.
