Sixteen Maoists were killed in a fight with security forces in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, on Saturday. Two security personnel were also injured in the encounter.
Bastar Police Chief, Sundarraj P, said the encounter happened after security forces got information about Maoists moving in the Karlapal area. A joint operation by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) started on Friday to target them.
Meanwhile, in Narayanpur district, an explosion occurred on Friday when Maoists set off an improvised explosive device (IED) near Bedmakoti. A soldier was injured in the blast and was quickly taken to the hospital in Narayanpur. The soldier’s condition has since stabilized after receiving medical care.
