Two minor siblings lost their lives in a fire caused by an LPG cylinder leak at a house near Ashok Park Main Metro station in West Delhi on Sunday night, police said.
According to officials, the fire broke out around 8 pm while 34-year-old Savita was cooking, and her clothes caught fire. She was in the house with her three children—Aakash (7), Minakshi (11), and Sakshi (14).
“While Savita and Minakshi managed to escape unhurt, Sakshi and Aakash got trapped in the blaze. Upon hearing Savita’s cries for help, the landlord’s son and others rushed to rescue them,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vichitra Veer.
Both children were rushed to Acharya Bhikshu Chandra Hospital, where doctors declared them dead due to nearly 100 percent burn injuries.
Their father, Lal Bahadur, a 40-year-old private security guard, was on duty at the time of the incident, police added.
