A woman Maoist was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. The woman, named Renuka alias Banu, had a bounty of Rs 25 lakh on her head. The encounter took place on the borders of Dantewada and Bijapur districts early on Monday morning.
Renuka was part of the Maoist group and was in charge of their press team. During the encounter, security forces found her body, a rifle, ammunition, and other items from the site.
The encounter is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to fight against Maoists in the region. The government has promised to continue their tough stance against Maoists and end Naxalism in the country by March 31, 2026.
Earlier this month, on March 20, 30 Maoists were killed in separate encounters in Bijapur and Kanker districts. So far this year, 116 Maoists have been killed in different encounters, with 100 of them in the Bastar division.
