Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday for a five-day State Visit to India. He was warmly welcomed by Union Minister Pabitra Margherita and was given a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the airport.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) shared the news, saying, “Bienvenido, President Gabriel Boric! President Boric of Chile has arrived in New Delhi for his first State Visit to India and was given a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour.”
President Boric is visiting India with a large group, including ministers, parliament members, senior officials, business leaders, media, and prominent Chileans involved in cultural exchange between India and Chile. He will travel to Agra, Mumbai, and Bengaluru before finishing his visit on April 5.
After landing in India, President Boric posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “It’s 6:30 a.m. in New Delhi, and we are starting this State Visit to India. This is an important moment to strengthen our economic, political, and cultural ties, especially at a time when cooperation between countries is more important than ever. India is the fifth-largest economy and the most populous country in the world, and we have shared opportunities in areas like agribusiness, innovation, and creative industries.”
He also emphasized the importance of building stronger relations, saying, “I’m here to strengthen our ties, and I’m joined by government officials, business leaders, experts in innovation and culture, professors, and students. It’s going to be a busy schedule, and I’ll keep you updated!”
Chilean President Gabriel Boric will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 1. They will have detailed discussions about the relationship between India and Chile. Prime Minister Modi will also host a special lunch in President Boric’s honor. After that, President Boric will meet with India’s President Droupadi Murmu for more talks. Following their meeting, a banquet will be held in his honor.
