- Delhi court orders FIR against Union Minister Kapil Mishra over alleged involvement in 2020 Delhi riots.
- Complaint filed by Mohammad Ilyas accuses Mishra of inciting violence.
- Court finds enough evidence for investigation despite Delhi Police’s opposition.
A Delhi court has ordered the police to file an FIR (First Information Report) against Union Minister Kapil Mishra and others over their alleged involvement in the 2020 Delhi riots. The court said there was enough evidence to show that Mishra may have been involved in a crime related to the riots.
The court’s decision came after a resident named Mohammad Ilyas from Yamuna Vihar filed a complaint, accusing Mishra of inciting violence during the riots. The court agreed that there was enough reason to investigate further, as Mishra was reportedly present in the area at the time of the riots.
The Delhi Police had argued that Mishra was not directly involved in the riots, but the court disagreed and directed the police to continue their investigation. The 2020 Delhi riots led to at least 53 deaths and many injuries.
