Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bangkok on Thursday for a two-day visit to attend the sixth BIMSTEC summit. Upon arrival, he was given a ceremonial Guard of Honour and warmly welcomed by the Indian community. The Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, Suriya Jungrungreangkit, also welcomed him.
Modi shared his gratitude for the warm reception, mentioning the strong cultural bond between India and Thailand. He posted pictures from the airport, expressing his happiness at the connection between the two countries.
PM Modi Watches Thai Ramayana Performance
During his visit, Modi watched a performance of the Thai version of the Ramayana, known as Ramakien. A group of students from the Bunditpatanasilpa Institute presented the story through a fusion of Bharatanatyam from India and Khon from Thailand. Modi described it as a unique cultural experience, showing the deep cultural ties between India and Thailand.
BIMSTEC Summit
At the BIMSTEC summit, Modi will join leaders from Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar, and Bhutan. They are set to sign the Agreement on Maritime Cooperation. Modi will meet with leaders like Nepal’s Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli, Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, and Myanmar’s military leader Min Aung Hlaing during the summit.
