Pre-wedding shoots have now become an integral part of wedding celebrations. It’s rare to find a wedding today without a pre-wedding photoshoot. These shoots typically involve inviting the couple to a selected location before the wedding and capturing photographs and videos in various poses. Recently, temple premises have become a popular choice for photographers to conduct such shoots.
However, concerns are now being raised that conducting pre-wedding shoots in temple premises is creating uncomfortable situations for visiting devotees. Taking note of such concerns, the Udupi Sri Krishna Math administration has decided to ban pre-wedding shoots within the temple premises. This move is being widely appreciated and many believe such restrictions should be imposed across all temple premises. After all, temples are places of faith, devotion, and worship, not filming locations.
There is no objection if pre-wedding shoots are carried out with a sense of decency. But in recent times, many such shoots have crossed the boundaries of culture and decency. Couples can shoot at parks, beaches, hills, waterfalls, or any other place of their choice. They are free to conduct their photo and video shoots as they wish. No one is against that.
But when such filming inside temples leads to discomfort and embarrassment for other devotees, it is seen as an act that tarnishes the sanctity of the temple. Hence, temple administrations must take strict measures against such practices. The administration of Udupi Sri Krishna Math has taken a bold and exemplary step in this direction by imposing a clear ban.
