Two terrorists were killed by the Indian Army during an ongoing operation in the snow-covered Chhatru area of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir, the Army said on Saturday. One terrorist was already killed on Friday morning, making it a total of three terrorists neutralised so far.

According to the official sources, the terrorists killed on Saturday were linked to the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). One of them was a top commander named Saifullah, who had been active in the Chenab valley region for the past year.

The Army’s White Knight Corps shared the update on social media platform X, saying: “Despite bad weather, two more Pakistani terrorists have been eliminated. We have recovered a large number of war-like items, including one AK-47 and one M4 rifle.”

The operation started on Wednesday after a brief encounter between security forces and terrorists. The search and combing operation is still going on. At the same time, another operation is happening in the Basantgarh and Ramnagar areas of Udhampur district, where security forces are searching for three more terrorists.

In the first quarter of 2025, Jammu and Kashmir experienced a significant decrease in terrorism-related fatalities, marking one of the lowest periods in recent decades. According to official data, only three individuals were killed: one security force member and two militants.

January 2025

January 20: An Army soldier named Pangala Kartheek was martyred during an encounter with militants in the Zaloora Gujjarpati forest area of Sopore, Baramulla district. Indian Army troops thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Poonch district, resulting in the deaths of two militants.

February 2025

A gunbattle in the Padgampora area of Pulwama led to the deaths of two militants. This period also saw a significant achievement when, on March 18, security forces neutralized a Pakistani terrorist named Saifullah in Handwara, marking the first counterterrorism operation in nearly two months.

These developments underscore the effectiveness of heightened security measures and intelligence operations in reducing violence in the region.
