In yet another testament to the strong leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and the relentless commitment of Chhattisgarh’s security forces, two dreaded Maoists were eliminated in a well-coordinated encounter near the Kondagaon-Narayanpur border on Tuesday evening. This successful operation further underscores the state’s aggressive and result-oriented stance against Naxalism.
According to police officials, the bodies of two seasoned cadres of the banned Maoist organisation were recovered along with an AK-47 rifle. The area is still being thoroughly searched by security personnel to ensure complete sanitisation of the zone.
“Two hardcore Naxals were killed in an encounter at the Kondagaon-Narayanpur border. AK-47 and two bodies were recovered. Search operations are underway,” confirmed Bastar IG Sundarraj P., commending the courage and coordination of the personnel involved.
The encounter was the result of a joint operation carried out by the highly trained Bastar Fighters and the District Reserve Guard (DRG). Among those neutralised was Halder, a notorious Maoist commander affiliated with the East Bastar Division, and Rame, an area committee member—together carrying a bounty of ₹13 lakh. Their elimination marks a critical blow to the outlawed group’s operational leadership in the region.
This success follows closely on the heels of another high-impact operation on April 12 in Bijapur district’s Kolnar area, where a joint force comprising the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Special Task Force (STF), and DRG eliminated three Maoists in an intense exchange of fire.
With the latest operation, the number of Maoists neutralised in Chhattisgarh this year has now surpassed 135—a figure that speaks volumes about the momentum and resolve of the forces on ground.
These accomplishments come in tandem with an increasing number of Maoists surrendering and embracing peace—reflecting the effectiveness of CM Sai’s visionary rehabilitation policies.
“Naxalism Breathing Its Last”: CM Vishnu Deo Sai
Speaking at a recent public event, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reiterated the state government’s unwavering commitment to uprooting Naxalism through a dual-pronged approach—firm security action and humane rehabilitation.
“About 1,314 Naxalites have surrendered, and the government is doing justice to them. We’ve made arrangements for 15,000 homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, placed them in district headquarters, and initiated skill development programs to make them employable. Many are now working in third and fourth class jobs in government departments,” the Chief Minister proudly stated.
He revealed that since his government came into power, a strong message was sent to insurgents across the state: “Abandon bullets and violence, and walk the path of development.”
Home Minister Vijay Sharma was personally sent to states like Assam to study their rehabilitation models and bring back best practices—an initiative that has helped tailor Chhattisgarh’s robust surrender and integration programs.
In a bold assertion of the state’s success, CM Sai declared, “Only a few cadres remain. In the last one and a half years, 359 Maoists with huge bounties have been neutralised. Naxalism is breathing its last in Chhattisgarh.”
He further assured that the government remains open to dialogue and inclusion, encouraging those still in hiding to abandon their arms and join the mainstream. “We have always kept the doors open. We will ensure justice, dignity, and employment for those who come forward,” the Chief Minister emphasized.
With strong governance, a clear vision, and tireless efforts by security personnel, Chhattisgarh stands as a model state in the fight against left-wing extremism—showing that peace, when backed by purpose, is not just a hope but an achievable reality.
