KEY POINTS

  • 'Nari Adalat' empowers rural women through legal awareness and local dispute resolution
  • 10,000 women to be trained as 'Paryavaran Sakhis' under solar energy initiative
  • Schemes like 181 Helpline and One Stop Centers integrated for safety and support

‘Nari Adalat’, Solar Training, and Safety Initiatives Show Yogi Government’s Commitment to Women’s Upliftment. Uttar Pradesh is no longer just a state known for its historical richness and cultural heritage; it is now emerging as a powerful model of grassroots transformation, especially when it comes to women’s empowerment. The Yogi Adityanath-led government has taken significant steps to uplift, empower, and protect women across the state, particularly in rural and underdeveloped areas. From legal awareness to environmental entrepreneurship, UP is scripting a new chapter of women-led change.

In one of the most notable initiatives, the UP government has rolled out the ‘Nari Adalat’, a community-driven platform aimed at empowering women by raising awareness about their legal rights and connecting them with essential government services. Operated by 7 to 11 women in each village, this initiative is implemented under the Women and Child Development Department. It’s not just an awareness tool, but a local court-like system that enables women to resolve family, social, and economic disputes with confidence and collective strength.

Currently being piloted in eight aspirational districts- Bahraich, Balrampur, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Fatehpur, Shravasti, Siddharthnagar, and Sonbhadra, this initiative offers support on issues related to education, safety, health, and self-reliance. The ‘Nari Adalats’ also link women directly with schemes like the One Stop Center, 181 Women Helpline, and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, thereby bridging the gap between the government and grassroots-level beneficiaries.

This unique platform also promotes leadership and solidarity among rural women, offering them a safe space to voice concerns, seek help, and participate in the justice system informally but effectively. The model is now being reviewed for its statewide rollout across all 75 districts, aiming to make legal empowerment and awareness accessible to every rural woman in UP.

But this is not the only feather in the cap for the UP government. Adding another dimension to women’s empowerment, a new solar energy-based initiative is now making waves in the state. According to an official release, the government is launching a program that will train 10,000 ‘Paryavaran Sakhis’, women who will be skilled in solar technology, manufacturing, and retail.

The mission is not only to create jobs but also to promote sustainable development, as women are being encouraged to set up solar manufacturing units and retail outlets in their localities. This will serve dual purposes: making women economically independent and ensuring clean energy adoption in rural areas.

This program is aligned with both women’s empowerment and environmental protection, showcasing UP’s vision of inclusive growth. By helping rural women earn through clean energy solutions, the government is building a stronger and greener future for generations to come.

Alongside these initiatives, the UP government has also strengthened its commitment to women’s safety and dignity through institutional support systems. The One Stop Centers across districts serve as crucial shelters and legal support hubs for women in distress. The 181 Women Helpline operates 24/7, providing immediate help in cases of violence, harassment, or emergencies.

The government has ensured these schemes are interlinked and accessible, especially through platforms like ‘Nari Adalat’, so that no woman in the state feels isolated or helpless. These measures underline the state’s determination to not only offer protection but also build confidence among women to stand up, speak up, and fight back.

What stands out in Uttar Pradesh’s approach is that this isn’t just about a single policy or isolated scheme. Whether it’s legal empowerment, economic self-reliance, or personal safety, the government has initiated a multi-layered strategy for women’s upliftment. Each program complements the other, forming a network of support and empowerment.

These efforts are slowly but surely changing the landscape in rural UP, educating women, creating local leaders, and building trust in the governance system. The impact is visible not just in statistics, but in the smiles of confident rural women, in disputes resolved without fear, and in the new businesses powered by sunlight and ambition.

The vision of ‘Sashakt Mahila, Sashakt Samaj’ is no longer a distant dream in Uttar Pradesh. It is unfolding with each training session, each community court hearing, and each solar panel installed. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state is proving that when women are given the right tools, platforms, and trust, they can transform not only their lives but the future of the entire community.
