In a shocking and disgraceful incident, a man named Mizan, hailing from Mewat, Haryana, was arrested on Wednesday, April 17, for molesting a woman tourist from Lithuania at the historic Agra Fort in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
The woman, who had come to explore one of India’s most iconic heritage sites, was subjected to this traumatic experience on Wednesday, April 16, while she and her male companion were waiting in the security queue. It was there that Mizan, without any regard for decency or consent, inappropriately touched her.
But the nightmare didn’t stop there. Instead of backing off, Mizan had the audacity to repeat the act. It was then that the courageous woman stood up for herself, she caught him red-handed and immediately alerted the authorities.
A formal complaint was lodged at the Tourist Police Station, following which Mizan was taken into custody and presented before the court on Thursday. The police have launched an investigation, and the available CCTV footage is being reviewed to build a watertight case against him.
Ruby Singh, SHO of the Tourist Police, confirmed, “Mizan touched the woman inappropriately. When he repeated the act, she caught him and informed the police.”
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Taj Security), Syed Ahmed, a case has been registered under Section 75(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual harassment. He stated, “After reviewing CCTV footage and conducting inquiries, we arrested Mizan, a tourist from Mewat, Haryana.”
Such predatory behavior from individuals like Mizan not only endangers the safety and dignity of tourists—especially women—but also shames the image of India’s hospitality and cultural heritage. It is imperative that justice is swift and uncompromising, to send a clear message: this country has zero tolerance for molesters and creeps who think they can violate women with impunity.
