KEY POINTS
- 28 people, mostly tourists, killed in Pahalgam terror attack on April 22
- Security forces demolish houses of suspects linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba
- Pakistan-trained terrorist Adil Guree declared most wanted with Rs 20 lakh reward
In a strong and bold response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces and the J&K administration have launched a massive crackdown on terrorists and their supporters. The brutal attack that took place on April 22 in Pahalgam left 28 people dead, mostly tourists, including one Nepali citizen, and several others injured. The entire country is in shock and mourning, and there is growing anger among the people demanding strict punishment for those involved.
Suspects’ Houses Demolished by Authorities
As part of the continued crackdown, authorities demolished the house of a suspect believed to be linked to the attack in Chotipora village, Shopian district. This suspect is allegedly connected to the group of terrorists that carried out the gruesome killings. Another major action was the removal of the house of Zakir Ahmad Ganie from Mutalhama village, Kulgam district. Ganie has reportedly been active in terror activities since 2023 and is now facing serious charges for his role in the Pahalgam massacre.
Lashkar-e-Taiba Terrorist Declared Most Wanted
Earlier, on Friday, the authorities demolished the house of Adil Thokar, also known as Adil Guree, a dangerous terrorist linked to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Adil is from Guree village in Anantnag district and is believed to be one of the main culprits in the Pahalgam attack. He had illegally crossed over to Pakistan in 2018, where he received training in terrorism, and returned to India last year to spread violence. Adil has now been declared the most wanted, with a reward of Rs 20 lakh announced for any information about his whereabouts. Two Pakistani nationals have also been declared most wanted in this case, once again exposing Pakistan’s role in supporting terrorism in India.
Shockingly, family members of the terrorists are not expressing any remorse. Instead, some are even glorifying the attackers. The sister of one terrorist from Tral, Pulwama, called her brother a “Mujahideen.” She claimed that the family was innocent, but such statements clearly show how some families continue to support extremist ideologies. The police had taken the family members into custody, indicating the seriousness of the matter and the level of possible support that the terrorists may have received from their own households.
Two Associates Arrested, Army on High Alert
Meanwhile, in another development, two terrorist associates were arrested by the security forces from Thokerpora in the Qaimoh area of Kulgam. Their involvement in assisting the Pahalgam terrorists is being investigated. The Indian Army, under the leadership of Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, has gone into full action mode. The Army Chief visited Srinagar and reviewed the security arrangements in the Union Territory. Multiple search operations are now being conducted across the region to find and neutralize the terrorists behind the attack.
The Pahalgam attack is not just an assault on innocent tourists, it is an attack on India’s unity and peace. Terrorists targeted innocent people who came to enjoy the beauty of Kashmir. This act of violence is not only shameful but also shows how some extremist groups continue to spread fear and hatred in the name of religion and ideology. The Indian people have stood up strongly, demanding justice and the complete elimination of such terror networks.
This incident once again raises serious questions about Pakistan’s role in encouraging terrorism in India. Terrorists like Adil Guree receive training across the border and are sent back to kill innocent people. It is time for the international community to take notice and hold Pakistan accountable. India has every right to protect its people and respond with strength. The demolition of the terrorists’ houses sends a strong message, India will not tolerate terrorism.
With the Indian Army and security forces on high alert, the government has made it clear that terrorists will not be spared. Whether hiding in the mountains or supported by sympathizers at home, they will be found and punished.
