KEY POINTS
- TRF, which first claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam terror attack, has now denied any involvement.
- The terrorist group now blames Indian cyber intrusion for false message.
- Pakistan Army likely pressured TRF after India’s tough Indus Water Treaty move.
In a brutal terror attack that has shocked the nation, 26 Hindus were mercilessly killed in Pahalgam, Kashmir after terrorists checked their religion before executing them. The Pakistan-sponsored terrorist group, ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba had initially claimed responsibility for the heinous act. However, facing mounting pressure, the outfit has now bizarrely retracted its claim and denied any involvement.
In an official media release, TRF stated, “TRF unequivocally denies any involvement in the Pahalgam incident. Any attribution of this act to TRF is false, hasty.”
Desperately trying to wriggle out of the situation, the group alleged that an unauthorised message had been posted from their digital platforms, which falsely claimed responsibility.

In a laughable and desperate narrative, TRF further accused Indian agencies of hacking into their system, saying, “After an internal audit, we have reason to believe it was the result of a coordinated cyber intrusion. We are conducting a full investigation to trace the breach, and early indicators suggest fingerprints of Indian cyber-intelligence operatives.”
This sudden U-turn from TRF has not gone unnoticed. Intelligence sources suggest that Pakistan’s army leadership, rattled by India’s severe diplomatic and strategic actions including the aggressive push to suspend water sharing under the Indus Water Treaty has now ordered its proxy terror outfits to step back. Pakistan’s deep state, which has long funded and orchestrated terror through such groups, appears to be sensing the seriousness of the situation, fearing massive international and regional backlash.
The timing of TRF’s denial, coming days after India’s strong measures against Pakistan, further signals that Islamabad’s traditional terror machinery is under immense pressure. As India moves decisively on multiple fronts militarily, diplomatically, and economically the old Pakistani strategy of “plausible deniability” through terror proxies seems to be rapidly crumbling.
