After Pakistan attacked overnight, India gave a strong and equal response. On Thursday, the Defence Ministry said that the Indian Armed Forces carried out precise strikes on Pakistan’s air defence radars and systems in several places. India’s reply matched Pakistan’s attack in both strength and area. One air defence system in Lahore was destroyed. The ministry also said that Pakistan is firing more shells across the border, especially at places where civilians and soldiers live.
Pakistan has been using mortars and heavy guns to target areas in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. The Defence Ministry also said that on the night of May 7–8, Pakistan tried to attack many military targets in northern and western India. These included places like Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, and Bhuj, among others.
The drones and missiles sent by Pakistan were successfully stopped by India’s special air defence system called the Integrated Counter-UAS Grid. This system is supported by the S-400 Triumf air defence systems, which India bought from Russia. The S-400 is a powerful system that can spot and destroy enemy aircraft, drones, or missiles from as far as 600 kilometers away. The Defence Ministry said that India had no choice but to strike back to stop Pakistan’s shelling and protect civilians from getting hurt or killed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Indian armed forces for successfully carrying out airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These strikes were part of Operation Sindoor, which was launched in response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
After the operation, PM Modi held a meeting with the Union Cabinet. During the meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh informed everyone about the details of the operation. The entire Cabinet welcomed the bold action by the armed forces and praised PM Modi’s strong leadership by thumping their desks in approval.
Meanwhile, the central government started an all-party meeting on Thursday to talk about Operation Sindoor. This meeting was called to inform leaders from different political parties about the operation, which was carried out on Wednesday. It was a response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 innocent civilians lost their lives.
