On the night between May 8 and 9, India’s air defence systems successfully shot down 50 Pakistani drones that were trying to attack military and civilian locations near the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border. The drones were stopped over cities like Amritsar, Jalandhar, Jammu, Poonch, Kutch, and Jaisalmer using advanced systems, including the S-400 missile defence system. None of the drones hit their targets, making this a big success for Indian forces, who stayed alert all night.
To stay safe, these cities were placed under full blackout. People were told to keep lights off, stay indoors, and not drive vehicles. There was also heavy firing along the LoC and in nearby areas. During this, Indian forces stopped a major attempt by terrorists to enter India.
Unconfirmed reports suggest:
3 Pakistani fighter jets (including a US-made F-16 and two Chinese JF-17s) were shot down.
2 Pakistani pilots may have been captured by Indian forces.
A huge blast was reported near the home of Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif, and his family was moved to safety.
The Karachi port may have also been attacked.
India is expected to hold a press conference at 9 AM to share more details about the overnight operations.
Earlier, between May 6 and 7, India had carried out precision airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, destroying them and reportedly killing over 100 terrorists.
Indian Army Releases Dramatic Footage of Air Defence Blasting Pakistani Drones
After a night-long security operation, the Indian Army on Friday morning released a video showing India’s air defence systems stopping Pakistani drones and missiles over places like Jammu and Jaisalmer.
The Army also shared a statement saying: “On the night of May 8 and 9, 2025, Pakistan launched multiple attacks using drones and other weapons along the entire Western Border. Pakistani troops also broke the ceasefire many times along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.”
The Indian Army said that all the drone attacks were stopped successfully and a strong reply was given to Pakistan’s firing at the border. They added, “The Indian Army is fully committed to protecting the country’s borders and sovereignty. Any wrong actions against India will be met with force.”
