  • The Hindu published an India map omitting Sikkim
  • Reported 3 Indian fighter jet crashes in J&K — later proved false

There are certain news media outlets which are anti-India. ‘The Hindu’ is seen by many as an anti-India news website. It is owned by The Hindu Group and Kasturi & Sons Limited. The publisher is N. Ravi, who is also a director at Kasturi & Sons. The company is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Over the years, ‘The Hindu’ has been accused several times of publishing news that goes against India’s interests and for supporting China’s views. Because of this, many people believe it has become an anti-India newspaper.

Some also say that India’s liberal and left-leaning groups often support ‘The Hindu’, even when it takes a stand that many feel is against the country. This report includes 32 incidents where The Hindu newspaper is said to have published articles against India and supported China’s views.

The Hindu News Paper : The mouthpiece Of China & Anti-Bharat

The Hindu Leaves Out Sikkim in Map, Later Apologizes: The Hindu newspaper published an article titled “With a New Pope, an Understanding of Catholicism in India” on May 13, 2025. In that article, they showed a map of India but the map did not include the state of Sikkim, which caused anger and confusion among readers.

People across the country strongly objected to this mistake, saying it was disrespectful and misleading. The next day, on May 14, 2025, The Hindu responded to the backlash and issued an apology. The newspaper said that it was a “data input error” and not intentional. Their editorial team released a correction saying:

“Due to a data input error, the India map in the article was incorrectly shown without Sikkim. We apologise for the error. The map and the related references have been removed from the article online and corrected in our e-paper editions.”

The Hindu Publishes False News Of Crash Of Three Indian Planes

The Hindu news agency published a false report claiming that three Indian fighter jets had crashed in different areas of Jammu and Kashmir — Akhnoor, Ramban, and Pampore. The article even included some photos to support the claim. But later, experts and officials confirmed that the images were not of crashed jets, but actually of an external fuel tank that had fallen — a part that can be dropped from aircraft and is not dangerous on its own.

The Hindu deleted the article and admitted the error following people pointed out the mistake. The newspaper said it “regretted” causing confusion among readers. This incident raised concerns again about spreading unverified and misleading news, especially during tense times.

Nepal, China Sign BRI Cooperation Framework

The Hindu published an article on December 4, 2024 that praised China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The article talked about a new agreement between Nepal and China to work together on this project. The article said the BRI could be very helpful for Nepal’s development, especially in building better roads, railways, and infrastructure. It also said the project could help turn Nepal from a landlocked country into a land-linked one, making it easier for Nepal to connect with other countries.

The piece also praised China’s support for Nepal and appreciated the role of Nepal’s then-Prime Minister K.P. Oli in improving ties with China. Many people felt that the article showed The Hindu’s clear support for China’s agenda, rather than presenting a balanced view.

US Targets China’s Chip Industry With New Restrictions

The Hindu published a story about the U.S. taking action against China’s chip (semiconductor) industry on December 3, 2024. The article focused more on China’s growth and strength, and how it is coping with U.S. restrictions. It painted China in a positive light and suggested that America’s actions were unfair. Many readers felt that the report showed too much support for China and did not give a balanced view of the issue.

China’s large warship Hainan arrived in Hong Kong on November 21, 2024 , showing off China’s growing military power. This move was clearly meant to send a message about China’s strength and control in the region. In an article published on November 22, 2024, The Hindu supported China’s actions, saying that China’s military build-up is not a threat but a necessary step to protect itself.

The article said China was only defending its sovereignty and reacting to rising tensions in the region. Many people felt the article showed clear support for China, instead of giving a neutral point of view.

The article said that India is struggling with a diabetes crisis, but China is doing much better in handling the disease. It highlighted how China is improving healthcare, cutting tobacco use, and spreading awareness about diabetes. The article suggested that India should learn from China if it wants to meet the WHO’s 2030 health goals. Many readers felt the article ignored India’s efforts and unfairly glorified China instead.

Advanced Chinese Warship Showcased In Hong Kong

The next day, on November 22, The Hindu published an article that supported China’s action. It also said that China’s warship shows it is ready to protect its land and respond to any outside pressure that could disturb the balance in the area.

Growing Epidemic: On Diabetes And India

The Hindu published an article on November 18, 2024 that praised China’s healthcare system while criticizing India. The article said India is facing a big problem with diabetes. It said China’s efforts to improve healthcare, reduce smoking, and teach people about diabetes are good examples to follow. The article also mentioned that as India tries to meet the World Health Organization’s 2030 goals for diabetes care, China’s strong actions could help reduce diabetes not just in China but around the world.

No Invite From India, Nepal PM Oli Heads To China On First Visit Abroad

The Hindu’s report on Nepal’s Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli’s visit to China talks mostly about Nepal’s growing relationship with China. It focuses on Nepal asking China to forgive a loan for the Pokhara International Airport and problems Nepal has with India over airspace talks. The report seems to support Nepal getting closer to China.

India Silent After U.S. sanctions 19 Indian Entities For ‘Russia links’

The Hindu’s report on U.S. sanctions against Indian companies criticizes India’s foreign policy and its ties with Russia. The article points out that India has stayed quiet even though many Indian companies were targeted by the U.S. It suggests that India’s silence shows a weak diplomatic response. The article also explains that the U.S. Treasury Department punished nearly 400 companies, including some from India, for giving Russia certain technologies that can be used for both civilian and military purposes.

China Sets Up Powerful Information Warfare Force To Support ‘Military Struggles’

The Hindu praised China’s decision to create a new Information Support Force under President Xi Jinping. This special force will help China improve its skills in information warfare and make its military stronger. The report said this step shows that China is planning for the future and wants to modernize its defense. It also said that this force will help China protect its national interests in today’s complicated world.

China’s Military Delegation Visited Maldives, Sri Lanka And Nepal

In one of its articles, The Hindu talked about China’s increasing involvement in South Asia. The article presented this as a smart move by China to bring peace and cooperation to the region. It mentioned China’s military help to the Maldives and how Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu is supporting China’s plans. The article also said that China is building stronger defence ties with Sri Lanka and Nepal through new agreements.

There, he had a private meeting with the editor, Suresh Nambath, and spoke with other staff members.

Indian Army Says 20 Soldiers Killed In Clash With Chinese Troops In The Galwanare

The Hindu published an article that seemed to support China’s side during the Galwan Valley clash between India and China. The article focused on statements made by China’s army and government, which blamed India for breaking earlier agreements and starting the fight. It repeated China’s claim that the Galwan Valley always belonged to them — a claim that India strongly disagrees with. The article gave more importance to China’s version of the story and did not clearly present India’s side.

China Lodges Protest With India Over Violent Face-Off In Galwan Valley

The Hindu newspaper published an article about the India-China clash at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on June 15, 2021. The article mainly focused on China’s version of events. It highlighted China’s protest, where they claimed that Indian soldiers crossed the border, did something “illegal,” and attacked Chinese troops. The report showed the situation in a way that seemed more supportive of China’s side and made India look like the one who started the trouble.

China Says It Is Not For Actions To Change Status Quo Of LAC

In a report by The Hindu, the focus was on the tension at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh. The article highlighted China’s side of the story, where China denied that its soldiers had entered Indian land to stop an irrigation project. Instead, it said that Chinese troops were on their own side of the LAC and called for maintaining peace and not making any changes to the current situation on the border. The article seemed to support China’s repeated claim that no country should take steps alone to change the LAC conditions.

Left-Wing Outlet The Hindu kneels Before Chinese Money

A professor of Chinese Studies from JNU, Alka Acharya, praised the Communist Party of China (CPC) on its 100th anniversary in an article published by the left-leaning newspaper The Hindu. In her article, she described the CPC under Xi Jinping as a strong and powerful force, using the Chinese term “Qiang Qilai.” She said that the party has faced many challenges both from within the country and from the outside but has come out even stronger. Alka Acharya also claimed that China has finally moved past its colonial past and is now aiming to become a rising global power under the leadership of the CPC.

Left-Wing Outlet The Hindu Kneels Before Chinese Money, Puts Full-Pageadvertorial Celebrating 100 Years Of Communist Party Of China

The Hindu published a full-page article on July 1, 2021, that was actually a paid advertisement from China. It was released to mark 100 years of the Communist Party of China (CPC). This ad was printed on the third page of the newspaper. At first glance, the page looked like a regular news report, which could confuse readers. But if you looked carefully, it was clear that the content was paid for and created by China. The Hindu also released a podcast around the same time, where they talked about the rise of the Communist Party of China and its future.

Article – CPC | Back To The Future For China’s Communists

The Hindu published an article written by Ananth Krishnan on June 26, 2021 that praised China and its ruling party the Communist Party of China (CPC). The article talked about how the party has changed over time. It explained that earlier, under leaders like Deng Xiaoping, China followed a system where leadership was shared. But now, under Xi Jinping, the party has become more like the time of Mao Zedong, where one strong leader controls most things. In simple words, the article said that the Communist Party of China has become more powerful and focused under Xi Jinping and has come a long way since it began in 1921.

India ‘Totally’ Responsible For LAC Situation: China

The Hindu published an article that seemed to support China’s point of view on the ongoing India-China border tensions. The article mainly focused on a statement by China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Hua Chunying, who blamed India for the current situation at the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The article showed China as wanting to solve the issue through peaceful talks. Hua said that China is committed to peace and stability in the region. The article also compared this with what India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, said — that China broke agreements by sending a large number of soldiers near the border.

The Hindu Makes Money By Printing Chinese Propaganda

The Hindu newspaper printed a full-page ad paid for by China to mark China’s national day on October 1, 2020. This ad appeared on page 3 of the printed paper. Many people felt that The Hindu was more focused on earning money and spreading Chinese government views, even though Indian soldiers had made sacrifices at the border. Interestingly, this paid content from China was not shown on The Hindu’s official website — it was only in the printed version.
